Compacting Cardboard
Make sure compactor is filled (after compacting, while compressed) to the Fill Line as marked inside the door (Figure 1)
After compacting the cardboard and while the plate is in the top position, pull the straps from the back of the compactor. Using the cutter, cut the straps to overlap with the lower straps. (Figure 2)
Move the straps from the compactor to the back of of the cardboard, so just the straps that need to be tied are hanging down. (Figure 3)
Close the door, and while holding & pulling on the straps, compact the cardboard. Once cardboard is fully compacted, make sure to put the switch in the “Lock” position. (Figure 4)
While in the lock position, unclip lower straps, open both doors, and tie lower straps in loops. (Figure 5)
How to tie an overhand knot to create a loop
Put upper straps through the loops, pull tight by lifting up. Pinch the two straps and tie it off. (Refer to video)
Cut off excess straps and release compactor. After removing the bale of cardboard, pull the straps from inside the machine to go across the bottom and out the front. Close & lock the lower door and secure the straps in the clips. (Figure 6)
Compacting Trash
The trash compactor is always to be used with the rubber base inside with the black heavy-duty liner on top. Make sure to pull the liner down to the line on front label, place the strap around the compactor just under the lip, with the buckle at the front and tighten.
Do not compact until there are at least 2 bags in the compactor. When it is full, remove the strap and use the blue bag ties to close off the bag. Open up the machine and move the bag (with the rubber base) onto the cart and take to the dumpster, taking care to not let the rubber base fall in the dumpster.
